A very unique situation has presented itself. There is a gentlemen who recently informed me, of a lovely collection of bat detectors he has. He will be listing many bat detectors (and related equipment) for sale, on Ebay in the near future. His eBay Seller ID is: batfan68
There are many wonderful models in this (impressive) collection. As well as compact FLIR cameras, and other cool stuff. I've seen the list and photos - Wow!
So, I just wanted to give everyone a head's-up: These lovely bat detectors, etc. will be up for auction soon. And I'll be providing details as they come up - So that my Visitors don't miss out.
With the Seller's permission, I'll post the list and photos here soon...
In other news, I'm back from my annual road trip to Lake George (Lake Luzerne, NY) to be more accurate. The bat detectors which accompanied me were: The new SM4BAT FS from Wildlife Acoustics and The BatSeeker 3.
During extensive use, the (inherent) low volume of The Bateeeker 3's speaker became more apparent. This was in the quiet, Adirondack mountains - So, I will look into this further.
The SM4BAT FS recorded a wonderful assortment of bat species, all in just 2 nights.
And, of course, there was almost a cacophony of singing insects. It would take a true expert to sort them out individually, whilst they are singing.
It would've been great, to have brought a good digital recorder and microphone along.
The insect songs could have been separated, back home in the "sound lab".
I'll be sure to think of the Orthopterans next time as well. But, I digress.
Happy bat detecting!
